Project GIR(C)

Welcome

to our "weekly" blog. With this format, we want to keep you up to date on regular updates and give you insights both on the server and behind the scenes. Because transparency plays an important role for us.

This week the article revolves around the project itself, because recently, on 21.03.2021, GIRC turned exactly one year old. 🎂

The whole thing started in March last year, during the first corona lockdown. Prior to this project, the founding team of GIRC had already led a project together with the Traincraft Mod. But they had had time to think about the project and they wanted to make a new start with Immersive Railroading and become big. So we had time, a small team and motivation to start a project.

But what does GIR(C) stand for?

That's easy to answer: German-Immersive-Railroading Community. GIR is clear, because our main topic is the railway. But the community, i.e. you, is very close to our hearts. Therefore, you deserve a special place in our name. Starting in a small team, the community has grown a lot over the last year and various people have joined us. They then brought in the craziest ideas to advance the project. As a result, several concept and map changes have inevitably resulted. But since the beginning of this year, we have had a constant concept with which we can work meaningfully.

We are in the midst of building a fictional but realistic world that focuses on the economy. Our aim is to bring the economy and rail transport into a meaningful harmony. Therefore, in addition to passenger transport, freight transport is also very important to us, so that every place gets a freight connection and the industry is distributed on the map. As a result, we achieve that goods have to be transported by rail. You players then have the opportunity to do various jobs in Roleplay, just like in real life. This boosts the economic cycle and you earn money to buy goods, houses and other things. We are also currently working on developing a sophisticated system there.

But stay tuned to see what else awaits you at GIRC. If you are interested in supporting the project, we are very open to any help, be it building houses and designing landscapes on the server, programming our own mods and plugins or even new ideas. We want to offer you a unique gaming experience at GIRC.

In the next blog entries

We then pick up on topics such as "our map and what to expect", "our own mods and plugins", "professions that you can do on our server" and many more.

Until then, and had you well,

The GIRC Team
